Having supported over 200 births, she has supported families of all kinds through a wide range of situations. She has also taught childbirth education classes to hundreds of families as an instructor for Bloom. This experience shines through in her teaching, along with her unbridled enthusiasm for all things birth. Jessica's style is frank and direct while also being compassionate and she frequently receives positive reviews from Bloom students. Grounded in a human-rights based philosophy that centres on bodily autonomy and informed choice, she also believes that knowledge is power and the more realistic information people have the better they can make the choices that are right for them. Which is why birth doula work, prenatal education and doula education are so important to her. She's also very interested in policy and public health issues around perinatal medical systems, place of birth choices, access to midwifery care and more. Jessica is a mother of one, and a proud East Van community member. She has been with Bloom as a doula and instructor since 2021.
