Service Description

Become a Birth by Bloom Certified Postpartum Doula with our collaboration with Wise Women to learn the practical skills needed to support families through the early weeks after birth. Postpartum is a huge transition for new parents. A new baby brings joy, but it can also bring exhaustion, uncertainty and a steep learning curve. A knowledgeable, calm and practical postpartum doula can make a meaningful difference during this time. This hands-on training is designed for anyone interested in becoming a postpartum doula, as well as birth doulas who want to expand their services. You’ll learn about: • The fourth trimester and the role of the postpartum doula • Postpartum healing, nutrition and traditional postpartum practices • Supporting families after vaginal and cesarean birth • Breastfeeding and common early feeding challenges • Bottle feeding, formula and combination feeding • Supporting families with twins, triplets and NICU experiences • Newborn care, including diapering, soothing and baby wearing • Creating healthy boundaries and working with families • Starting and building your postpartum doula business • Preparing your post-birth doula bag and the practical tools you’ll need Our approach is practical, evidence-informed and grounded in real experience supporting families. We recognize that every family is different and that there is no single right way to experience postpartum, feed a baby or become a parent. You’ll learn how to provide physical, emotional and informational support while respecting each family’s choices and knowing when additional professional support or referral is needed. You do not need to be a birth doula to take this course. Upon completion of the training, you will graduate as a Birth by Bloom Certified Postpartum Doula, with a practical foundation to begin supporting families in their homes and building your own postpartum doula practice.
