Hi, I’m Rubina! I’m a mom of two toddlers and a former postpartum nurse. I began my nursing career in 2016 and went on to care for mothers and newborns during those first hours and days after birth. Over the years, I also naturally became the person friends and family turned to when they brought their babies home, whether they had questions about feeding and newborn care or just needed some reassurance. Becoming a mom myself changed the way I understood pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. It made me realize how much it matters to have someone beside you who can stay calm, listen to what you want, and help you feel a little less overwhelmed by everything happening around you. That experience is what eventually brought me to doula work. My nursing background is something I bring with me into the birth space. I’m familiar with medical terminology and have experienced maternity care from the clinical side, which helps me make unfamiliar language feel a little less overwhelming. My role is to help you feel informed, encourage you to ask questions, and support you in confidently communicating your own wishes and preferences to your care team. During labour, I’m there with hands-on comfort, reassurance, and a steady presence for both you and your partner. Feeding and newborn care will always be especially close to my heart. I’ve completed breastfeeding theory courses through BCIT and am currently pursuing the pathway to becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). For me, doula work brings together my experience as a nurse, my life as a mom, and the kind of care I’ve always naturally been drawn to giving. Rooted in care, guided by experience.
